You can have passion in your life in many different ways. For some their career is their passion, for others, that special someone who makes their heart skip a beat. Some have passion filled hobbies, and some have the zeal for life, nature, or a number of other things. You can typically look into each person you meet and find one form of passion or another.
Passion has been something that has been lacking my life, long before losing Mel. I was working 8am-8pm Monday through Friday for over 4 years, and never had time to become passionate about anything specific for long as I continued to have many larger projects that dominated my time. My love life, time with the boys, and my photography all suffered with me working so much – even if I was able to work from home.
Losing my spouse has thrust me into the world of living alone (metaphorically speaking of course) and learning to rethink my passions. Now that I understand that I had been co-dependent, there will be a long road of rediscovering what I am passionate about. I know I love photography but what other passions are out there, yet to be discovered, that are not directly tied to the many years of character integration that decades of being married can entail.
This weekend, I got to see many different types of passion. The passion that this weekends hosts have for their love of film, video, sound, and life history, was amazing to experience. While enjoying an ice cream, we began talking with a lady who had so many geek references tattooed on her arm that we discovered with every turn of her arm. She as passionate about geek stuff and was proud to show them off. We saw many vendors at the Farmers Market very passionate about sales and marketing. And there were lovers that were enthralled in passionate kissing and embraces.
“Passion is your joy, it is the essence of who you are. You have to unwrap it and find it.” — Jackie St. Onge
I have not lost my passion. My passion burns deep, just needs a little redirection , time, and patience.
