Anticipation

It is scary to try new things and to challenge your status quo especially when you have had a shared status quo for so many years. I had lost the desire to go outside of my comfort zone and tried very hard to stay within the lines and not challenge anything other than my career. Then, I suddenly lost the symbiotic attachment that unconsciously developed – and I needed to rediscover who I really was without her. I masked codependency by telling myself that this is what spouses do for their loved ones when they are down or struggling.

This desire to want to see what I am made of has pushed me to take on new paths that I had never even though of – including the Oregon Country Fair. There are things that I have not allowed myself to experience and as a resident of Lane County – I owed it to myself to experience the fair like it was meant to be experienced… from the inside.

Tomorrow, the setup day begins – where all of the staff go out to their respective booths to setup and prepare for the Friday – Sunday onslaught. Approximately 4000 volunteers and staff will be arriving and will be the final day before the public arrives on Friday. I have a nervous excitement for the buffet of lights, sun, food, and art that will be the feast for my eyes this weekend.

I may be able to post from the fair, but it may be next week for my next post.
